Learning Argentine Tango

The best way to learn to dance Argentine Tango is to attend classes, lessons or workshops with one or more teachers and to start social dancing at practise dances (practicas) and more formal social dances (milongas). Books, DVDs and the internet can be very helpful too

Tango Bromsgrove offers regular drop-in classes and occasional workshops for complete beginners and improvers, and we also organise regular milongas. The fundamentals of Argentine Tango are not difficult to acquire, and most people can be dancing simple, but authentic, tango in just a few hours. As dancers gain experience and develop their skill, they discover new ways to express themselves through the dance, but tango remains, at its heart, a simple dance.

We hope to see you soon.

Argentine Tango is an improvised partnered social dance in which a man and a woman explore each other’s body language as they move together in response to music.

Neither partner knows how the dance will unfold. The man, as leader, improvises the dance from step to step, inviting the woman, as follower, to move or turn, and then he accompanies her in that movement. Together, they create their dance, in the moment, sharing a common vocabulary of tango movement.

Some feedback from our last Workshop :

"Thanks for a great Workshop today. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to do more."

"I enjoyed the way you taught the basics in such an relaxed way, and will try to come to the next event!"
